Chapter 11: Selection and Evaluation of Reference Sources
In this chapter, Anne C. Barnhart discusses the process of evaluating, selecting, and acquiring physical and online (both licensed and freely available) reference sources for all libraries. The chapters looks at creating and revising your collection development policies and provides a brief overview of licensing of electronic resources. Throughout the chapter, Barnhart emphasizes that a strong reference collection requires knowing the "research interests, physical space and limitations, comfort with and access to technology, and myriad other considerations" (p. 289).
