Below are a few notes from the author team to consider when using the chapter with your students.

  • scripta! We hope you'll feel excited to think about different ways to use these materials. They offer a flexible route into Latin literature and we've picked some of the best bits from a wide range of texts.
  • At KS4, it might work best to choose a text and read it in English as a quick window into a genre; you could play vocab games with individual Latin words or use the derivations tasks to extend literacy. Or, you might find the scripta a great way to open a Y12 A Level course because the Latin has been adapted to avoid complex A Level grammar.
  • Online you'll find notes for each text; these will help students transition to using OCR endorsed A Level set text editions effectively. There are literary analysis questions too so that students can develop their understanding of literary effects.
