This exercise relates to Chapter 7 - ‘Adjacency Pairs and Preference Organisation’.
In the extracts here, identify the issues relating to preference that appear. In addition, the determining whether the action is preferred or dispreferred, consider how the actions are accomplished and how preference relates to turn shape and sequence organisation. Consider how dispreferred actions get delayed in their sequences and/or turns, and what talk is by the speaker to construct the action as preferred or dispreferred.
