Chapter 14:  World Englishes

Consider the following questions

  1. Consider you are planning to teach English for an organization such as the Peace Corps. What variety of English would you teach and how would you prepare for your classes?
  2. Why is it important to consider the varieties of English outside of US or UK as a teacher? Why is it important to see these Englishes as not simply descendants of US or UK Englishes but rather as Englishes as their own entities?
