The ebooks
I received a code in my printed book, what do I do? The ebooks for all languages are now LIVE! Please use your code to access the ebook. You can find full instructions on the
About the interactive ebooks page on this website.
My ebook has stopped working. Help! Clearing your browser history or redownloading the ebook to your BookShelf usually resolves the issue. Please go to the
About the interactive ebooks page for more information.
Do both lecturers and students have access to the ebook? All books come with an ebook access code, so anyone who buys a copy of the book, whether a lecturer, a student, or anyone else, has access to the ebook through their individual code.
Can I use my ebook offline? Yes, but please note that not all the interactive features work offline. Once you have downloaded the ebook you can read it offline using the VitalSource App, but when using the audio and video resources we recommend that you access the ebook online through
Chrome for the best results. Please see the
About the interactive ebooks page for more information.
Does the ebook have a fixed page or reflowable format? The ebook has a fixed page format (so the pages look as they do in the printed format). You can zoom in using your device if you want to enlarge the text. The method will depend on your device. In some tablets you will be able to zoom in by simply using the touch screen in the usual way and on other devices you will need to use the Resize Text button in the menu, which is usually at the bottom of the page (the symbol is Aa).
What features does the ebook have? The ebook has all the features you would expect from an epub3. For example, you can search, bookmark, highlight and make notes. In addition, you can also watch the video clips, listen to the audio (including voiced end-of-unit vocabulary lists), and complete interactive exercises.
Is the ebook available for sale separately? No, at the present time we have no intention of selling the ebook separately. As linguists, we know that writing things down can help you remember! We would expect most students to use both the printed book and the ebook together to complete the course, so we are not selling them separately.
The audio
How do I access the audio clips? All the audio clips are included in the ebook. When you reach an audio exercise, just click the headphone symbol to listen to the clip. You can also access the audio files
